Vegas Nationals: Way to go, Pack!

Las Vegas, Nevada, was the place to be in November!

Each year, National Martial Arts Alliance hosts both National and World competitions, which attract competitors from all over the country and beyond. It is a proving ground where you can stand next to others who have practiced, trained, and honed their skills as martial artists, and you can compete against the best. This year was no exception, and we had a great representation on November 12-13, 2022, at Lake Las Vegas.

Superior Martial Arts had 12 competitors represent our school this year at Nationals, with 7 karate kids and 5 adults registered in events that included forms, weapons, sparring (open hand, escrima, and sword), elevated forms, and team sparring. A second, local tournament was held the day after Nationals, and 10 of our students participated in the second day of competition, as well. Among our competitors, we brought home 23 gold medals, 13 silver, and 7 bronze. We were also able to compete in our first team sparring competition, with two of our competitors joining with other Colorado schools in the 40+ black belt ring to bring home a gold and silver in open-hand and weapons sparring. We also had three coaches and four students that assisted with timekeeping, scorekeeping, and judging throughout the weekend. Not only were our students awesome competitors, but excellent representatives of our school and our taekwondo family. We were honored to interact with some of the greatest martial artists in the world, and we’re proud of each competitor that gave their very best and left everything in the ring.

Next year, Nationals will be held in Kansas City, and we’d love to get even more competitors and families to commit to competing and attending. There is already information posted on the National Martial Arts Alliance website, so start planning now! Talk to your instructors if you are interested, and let us know if you have any questions!
